I've always wanted to be a baker...
Hey! I’m Marcie, the owner here at Cake Lovers Unite. Back in the early 90’s I fell in love with baking. I used to spend a full day at Christmas time baking with my Aunt Sandra and creating sweets baskets for my family. We made so many fun cookies!
Throughout the years, I found a creative side that always gave me a little side hustle. Whether it be Christmas crafts, crocheting/knitting, or little diy projects, I always craved being artsy! But please don’t ask me to draw on paper!
In 2012 I was on mat leave and was baking a lot more from home. In 2013, I took a cake decorating class at Michael’s, along with my good friend Michelle, who does some awesome work btw! I really started to dig into the decorating side quickly and by 2015, I was gathering up the nerve and the paperwork to open something so I could create for so many more people and really follow my new found passion in cake artistry.
I KNEW FROM THERE THAT THIS IS WHAT I WAS MEANT TO DO!
In 2016 I started out in a commercial kitchen we built in the basement of a restaurant. In 2018 the restaurant moved out and we expanded to include a storefront. This was huge! This meant I could create my own atmosphere and I am not a pretty pink cupcake shop kind of girl, not that there is anything wrong with that, its just not me.
I am quite proud of how far we’ve grown! Winning multiple awards along the way, we’ve helped bring smiles to hundreds of people! That in itself is the true reward in this profession.
IT'S NOT JUST CAKE TO ME. i WANT TO MAKE PEOPLE SMILE.
